Before your procedure, Dr. Kaur will ask for your consent to use nitrous oxide. After that, a plastic mask will be placed over your nose or mouth and nose. The laughing gas flows through the mask, and you breathe it in. Simple!
Nitrous oxide doesn’t put you fully to sleep, you’ll still hear what’s going on around you. You should be able to respond to questions that any one of the Toothbuds team asks you and you will be able to follow their instructions.
Once your procedure is over, Dr. Kaur will remove the mask that’s providing the nitrous oxide. The effects of laughing gas typically wear off within a few minutes. Children might be given 100% oxygen after the nitrous oxide mask is removed. The oxygen helps them to fully recover within minutes.
